The general director of Natural Environment and Landscape, Ignacio Sa\u00e9nz de Urturi, was in charge of opening this meeting, while the mayor of Ezcaray, Diego Bengoa, closed a day that ended with a colloquium where the speakers and the public could exchange views and resolve doubts.<\/p>\n\n

Jos\u00e9 Luis Villanueva, coordinator of the LIFE Haya_ Hardwood For The Home project and as representative of Cesefor, one of the project partners, officially presented this initiative and the results of another similar project \u201cGO Fagus\u201d also focused on the revaluation of beech. Markel Arriolabengoa and Aitor Kortabarria from Tantai Baso Jabe Koop discussed about forestry close to nature, while Ana Bel\u00e9n Noriega, general director-CEO of PEFC Spain, addressed sustainable forest certification and its relevance for small local companies. F\u00e9lix Fl\u00fcsh\u00f6h of Grupo G\u00e1miz presented current trends in wood construction, highlighting beech and oak products.<\/p>\n\n

The event was attended by representatives of the forestry sector, municipalities, forest owners and environmental associations. This event proved to be an enriching experience, aimed at achieving the objectives of climate change mitigation in beech forests through the analysis of various initiatives and mechanisms for forest sustainability. <\/p>\n\n
