The LIFE HAYA project has successfully held its 5th Expert Committee<\/strong>, bringing together more than 60 representatives of administrations, companies and project partners. This meeting has served as a key forum to analyse the situation of beech in Navarra, a region that concentrates the largest volume of felling and has a long tradition and a consolidated industrial fabric around this forest species. <\/p>\n\n

The committee was attended by technicians from the Government of Navarre, provincial councils of the Basque Country and La Rioja, as well as members of BASKEGUR, the Basque Timber Association. During the day, the attendees visited the Barbiur sawmill, a company with more than three generations of experience in the sector, certified in the PEFC chain of custody for its production. <\/p>\n\n

Subsequently, the Technical Conference \u2018.New horizons for beech wood in construction. Opportunities for the Navarrese industry <\/em>\u2018The event was opened by Ferm\u00edn Olabe, director of the Forestry and Hunting Management Service of the Government of Navarre. In his speech, Olabe reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the beech sector and the forestry industry, highlighting the aid earmarked for forestry machinery and the promotion of first-processing companies to develop products with greater added value in second-processing. <\/p>\n\n

During the conference, Silvia G\u00f3mez Fern\u00e1ndez and Mario Aza\u00f1a Gal\u00e1n, from Cesefor, presented recent advances in the use of beech wood in industry and construction. Javier Calvo-Sim\u00f3n, also from Cesefor, discussed the opportunities for the wood processing industry in Navarre. Finally, F\u00e9lix Fl\u00fclsh\u00f6h, from the G\u00e1miz Group, presented innovations in beech and oak wood products for construction. <\/p>\n\n

<\/a>The aim of these meetings, organised within the framework of the LIFE HAYA project, is to create a space for exchange where forest managers and owners can learn more about the characteristics of wood in its initial phase and explore new opportunities for its transformation and valuation.<\/p>\n\n
