On June 13<\/strong>, the LIFE HAYA \u2013 Hardwood for the Home<\/strong> project held the first of its educational visits to schools<\/strong>, as part of dissemination and awareness-raising action T.8.5<\/strong>. On this occasion, the project team visited CEIP CRA El Valle school<\/strong>, which brings together the schools of Almajano, Fuentelfresno and Almarza<\/strong> in Soria, with the participation of 60 pupils.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n

The session was led by Silvia G\u00f3mez Fern\u00e1ndez<\/strong>, a researcher at CESEFOR<\/strong>, one of the main partners of the LIFE HAYA<\/strong> project, who introduced students to key concepts about beech forests (Fagus sylvatica)<\/strong> and their ecological and economic importance.During the activity, the children learned what beech is, which animals feed on its nuts, its natural distribution, how climate change affects beech forests<\/strong>, and what close-to-nature silviculture<\/strong> consists of. The importance of using wood sustainably<\/strong> was also highlighted as an example of responsible forest management. <\/p>\n\n

To close the day, a short mindfulness session<\/strong> was held, inviting the pupils to connect with nature through calm and full awareness, thereby fostering a more conscious and respectful relationship with the environment.<\/p>\n\n

These visits are part of the LIFE HAYA project<\/strong> activities, whose aim is to promote the sustainable management of beech stands and the responsible use of wood in the home environment<\/strong>, contributing to climate change mitigation<\/strong> and the promotion of a circular forest bioeconomy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n
