THE BEECH BECOMES THE PROTAGONIST OF A DAY HELD IN EZCARAY
On 25 June, Ezcaray Town Council held the conference ‘THE BEECH: Forestry and new uses for its wood,’ organised by the Regional Ministry of Agriculture of La Rioja in collaboration with the LIFE Haya project on sustainable management of the beech tree.

On 25 June, the 3rd Expert Committee of the LIFE Haya project was held in Ezcaray, focused on discussing the forestry of demonstration stands in PEFC certified forests, such as Valgañón and Monte Hondo, located in La Rioja.

On 8 May, the partners of the LIFE Haya – Hardwood For The Home project held the 2nd Expert Committee, which was widely attended by technicians from various Central and Territorial Services, to discuss the progress and objectives of the project.

The second day of experts will discuss forestry and marking, as well as visits to mixed stands to explore the potential and natural richness of the beech forests present in the area.

The main objective of the event is to create a forum for discussion on close-to-nature forestry in beech forests, exploring wood products, economic opportunities and issues associated with beech forest management, promoting sustainable forest management.
I DAY OF FORESTERS AND LAND MANAGERS IN BIZKAIA
From 12 to 14 February, the 1st Conference of Foresters and Territorial Managers was held in Bizkaia, focusing on forestry close to nature in beech forests, with a master class by Froilán Sevilla Martínez, territorial head of Castilla y León.

The LIFE Haya – Hardwood for The Home project starts, focused on improving the adaptation of beech forests to climate change and their biodiversity. Through sustainable forest management, wood will be obtained to develop innovative products and the ‘Hayabitat’ construction system.
