THE WORKSHOPS FOR FORESTERS AND LAND MANAGERS ARE COMPLETED

Between February and April, HAZI organised eight workshops for foresters and land managers, presenting the LIFE Haya project, training in natural forestry in beech forests and selection of demonstration stands, with nearly 200 attendees. Dr. Froilán Sevilla led the sessions.

Throughout the months of February, March and April, HAZI has organized a total of eight days aimed at Foresters and Territory Managers. Its objective was multiple: to present the Life beech project, to offer training in close-to-nature forestry in beech forests and to select demonstration stands for the project. The total number of attendees at this conference was around 200 people, both from the forestry administration and the private sector.

Froilán Sevilla Martínez, head of the Territorial Section of Merindades of the Junta de Castilla y León, was in charge of the morning visits as well as the afternoon theory classes.

In February we celebrated the first three days in Urkiola (Bizkaia) and Salvatierra de Esca (Pre-Pyrenees of Zaragoza). The two days in March were held in Legutiano (Álava). Finally, we finished in April in Baraibar (Navarra) and in the General Parzonería of Gipuzkoa and Álava.

During these days, possible demonstration stands were visited in beech forests of 10-20 hectares, to be included in the Life HAYA Project, stands in which future beech trees and trees to be cut have been marked, in order to begin to apply this detailed or close-to-nature forestry.
