The European LIFE HAYA Hardwood For The Home project played a significant role at the 10th Forum on Urban Planning and Sustainable Construction, held on April 22 in Lugo de Llanera, consolidating itself as a benchmark event for professionals committed to sustainable building.

At the event, the project actively took part in this forum for discussion focused on the future of construction. Pablo Narváez, representing both the project and PEFC Spain, participated in the panel “Professionals and Sustainability”, where he highlighted the role of wood as a strategic material for advancing the decarbonization of the sector, with particular emphasis on the potential of beech wood.
During the session “La madera del mañana”, the new classification of beech wood developed within the framework of the project was presented. This key advancement will make it possible to optimize its use, improve its valorization within the supply chain, and promote its application in higher value-added products and construction solutions.

Participation in this forum reinforces the positioning of the LIFE HAYA project as an innovative initiative that promotes the use of local species in high-value applications, contributing to more sustainable and efficient construction aligned with climate challenges and the sector’s new regulatory frameworks.
In this way, the project continues to make progress in promoting wood as a key renewable resource for the transition towards more responsible construction models, committed to traceable solutions with a lower environmental impact.
